Where To Begin With Makeup

Do you find make-up totally mystifying and dread going to makeup counters?

Do you have a drawer full of makeup purchased by mistake?

Do you wear the same daytime makeup at nightime - Would like to learn how to turn your makeup look from day to an evening makeup look?

Have you always wanted to learn how create a smokey eye or a perfect red lip for a night out?

If the answer to any of these questions is yes then a makeup lesson is a great idea! If you look your best you can feel your best!

I will take mystery out of the makeup world, teach you which are the correct products for your skintype and skintone and how to apply those products like a pro! A makeup lesson will also save you a fortune in the long run as they'll be no more  bad makeup purchases .

Makeup lessons are also great for brides who wish to learn how to apply their own makeup on their wedding day or brides getting married abroad who don't want to chance a foreign makeup artist abroad doing their makeup.

You will receive step by step instruction on how to apply your makeup. I will apply makeup to one side of the face and you will do the other side under my instruction so you learn how to use the makeup and brushes correctly. I will type up and email you a full list of products and tools used. I will also create your own personal step by step guide of how to do your own makeup - I call it  'Painting by Numbers'. You can work through these steps while you practice at home.

When teaching a lesson I try to use as many 'drugstore' products as I can to keep the cost down of all the new makeup you'll be investing in.

A lesson takes roughly 2 hours and takes place at my makeup studio in Leighton Buzzard.

If there are a few of you who would like a makeup lesson I can also provide a group makeup lessons for you all together.

★★★★★

Juliet gave me and my daughter a make up lesson and right from the start she made us feel welcome and was just so warm and friendly.

Throughout the whole lesson, she explained everything clearly and showed patience. In all my years of applying make up, never have I learnt so much about application, technique, colour and correction.

Hints and tips were in abundance and the end product of how we looked was mind blowing.

Highly recommend Juliet and cant thank her enough

  • How do I reserve my wedding day?
If you'd like to reserve your wedding date you can do so by paying a £50 booking fee. This booking fee is redeemable against the Bride's practice fee. I can't reserve a wedding date without receiving a booking fee unfortunately.
  • Does a bride have to have a makeup practice?
Yes! A makeup practice is the opportunity for me to meet you and get your makeup look 100% right so that it looks perfect on the wedding day. I also need to see how the makeup sits on your skin during the day and make any tweaks if needed. You don't want to have to make decisions about your makeup on your wedding day!
  • I have a large bridal party - can you accommodate them all?

Yes, if timings allow, I can work on all of your bridal party. As I've been a bridal makeup artist for many many years I'm very quick at applying makeup.

If we are going to be pushed for time, you have a venue that won't allow early entry or you have a very early wedding I can bring another makeup artist with me. The fee for this is £60.
  • I don't wear much makeup. Do I need to wear lots on my Wedding Day...I'm worried I won't look like me!
If you're not a big makeup wearer you definitely don't need to wear lots of makeup on your wedding day.

I want every bride to look like them on their best day..and your guests to recognise you. If you don't wear much makeup I will keep your makeup look natural. I use lots of products and techniques that don't overload your skin ...you won't feel like you're wearing makeup at all
  • Will my makeup last? What If I cry?

All the makeup I use is waterproof and designed to last all day...and into the next if it's not removed!

The only part of the makeup that would need touching up is the lipstick...all clients will receive a mini lipstick to touch up with.
  • I have sensitive skin - will that be a problem?
I have sensitive skin too so all the products in my makeup kit have been trialled on my own face first.. so you should be fine. All the skincare I use is hypoallergenic and fragrance free. If you have a particular ingredient that you're allergic to I can check if any of my products contain it if you let me know in advance.
  • Are false lashes included on the Wedding Day?
I will provide false lashes for the bride on the wedding day. If other people would like lashes too i'm happy to apply them on the wedding day if they bring a pair with them (I will let the bride know which lashes a recommend).
  • I'm worried my wedding morning won't run smoothly and we'll be late.
I will create a timetable for makeup on the wedding morning so we keep to timings and we have a calm, fun morning! In 25 years of working on weddings I've NEVER made a bride late!
  • The room I'm getting ready in is very dark ...will this be ok?
I always travel with my professional light so that I have the perfect lighting for applying makeup...I'm actually a bit of a control freak when it comes to lighting!
